The Theoretical Foundation
In the 1940s Abraham Maslow developed a model of human motivation
which became known as Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. He divided
those needs into general categories, from the most basic to
the most advanced - physiological, safety, belonging/love, esteem
and self-actualization. He discovered that a higher need can
only be expressed after all lower needs are fulfilled.
Maslow studied the highest state - the state of self-actualization
- for many years. This he described as a state of total
happiness and satisfaction. Interestingly, his research
showed that in fact, most people do eventually reach this state.
But sadly, in nearly all cases, they reach it by experiencing
severe tragedy or only minutes before their death.
For the first time in history, great numbers of people have
all of their basic needs met. We now have the luxury to go beyond
basic needs and be curious about achieving the highest levels
of personal satisfaction and happiness.
The problem is, achieving these highest states requires a much
different approach from traditional learning methods..
From Theory to Realization
Over 18 years ago, Dr. MacKenzie was introduced to a learning
technology that reliably took people to the higher states described
by Maslow. His personal quest has been to refine, simplify and
continue to develop the basic technology in order to make it
available for as many people as possible.
Based on 15 years of on-going research, education and conducting
seminars, Dr. MacKenzie developed S.A.L.T - the Self Actualization
Learning Technology. This unique method is the proven foundation
underlying all the seminars offered by MIC.
