Awareness is the first step towards change
The very first step towards change is awareness. Also required
is honesty - a ruthless but compassionate honesty - with others
and above all, with yourself. Having these attitudes of open-minded
questioning and non-judgmental observation are keys to transforming
your life...
Why is curiosity so important?
Curiosity is one of the most reliable (and fun) ways to bring
yourself into present time consciousness. This takes you into
the moment... into the elusive 'now'. When in the moment, you
are no longer conscious of your memories of the past or expectations
for the future.
Curiosity also has the effect of focusing your mind on something
outside of yourself, rather than on your own inner self. Plus,
judgment is suspended and you no longer 'know' the answer. Instead,
you are in a quiet but intensely alert and awake state of consciousness.
You are able to just look and see what 'is'.
In fact, one of my favorite sayings is...
When the answer is found, truth is lost.
This state of not-knowing temporarily stops the inner mental
dialogue - that insidious voice chattering in the back of your
mind. You know... the one that is always critical, always judging,
worried about the future, or upset about the past. The running
commentary about what should/shouldn't be, what you like/don't
like, wondering about how you are doing, and "what about
me?"
Taking a break from 'self-consciousness' is quite refreshing
and liberating, putting you into a state where true learning
can take place. The grip of culturally conditioned belief systems
that may no longer be serving you is loosened, allowing you to now
be 'at choice'.
The Result...
- your biological system learns from honest feedback and automatically
begins to self-adjust
- you naturally become more authentic without any sense
of having to 'do' anything
- you learn how to respond more to the emotional impact of
life, rather than reacting emotionally
- the things that are not you simply fall away when they
are no longer of any use
- you become more mature and yet biologically younger at
the same time
- your innate genius can more easily emerge
- your learning and results deepen and strengthen over time
In short, you become more of who you really are, making you
'magnetic' to the life you came here to live!

had no preconceptions and no judgments, but somehow he tapped
into what their passions were and helped them to realise
them."

I felt more present. Happier. I had a sense of well being
