Many situations that previously terrified me
or brought up lots of stress in my system are now actually enjoyable!
When I attended my first SA preview evening, I did not intend
to do the whole weekend. I was simply curious about this 'learning
technique' that a good friend was so enthusiastic about.
However, by the end of the preview I knew that there was really
something to this; it was different from anything I had ever
encountered before and I wanted to find out more. So after much
deliberation and logistical sorting, I completed my first weekend.
Since then I have completed a second weekend and recently assisted
at a third. I still can't work out exactly WHAT has shifted
in me since starting this work, but I DO recognise the results
of the shift and I definitely like them!
Probably the biggest difference I have observed is a heightened
sense of awareness - of so many things - like the amazing different
scents of trees in Autumn and the pattern of raindrops on water,
as well as the impact people have on each other in so many subtle
ways. By recognising this impact and starting to be able to
mentally step back from situations, I am brought down by others
'negativity' much less than I previously (unconsciously) was.
Working with Mick has shown me how to respond as I choose,
rather than react to people and situations. Even on
its own this brings about a wonderful freedom! I don't think
I have ever laughed as much as I have done over the past few
months, or found as many situations fun and amusing.
Something has started to shift in the way I see things... many
situations that previously terrified me or brought up lots of
stress in my system are now actually enjoyable! I feel I can
make the most of them! Even with regard to 'negative' emotions,
somehow Self-Actualisation work provides tools for making the
experience of these more conscious and thereby
less damaging and life-destroying, by recognising and really
experiencing them fully - being aware of really living in every
moment, rather than trying to live through our minds in either
the past or the future.
I have only just started discovering the effects SA can have
on people's lives; I am looking forward to doing lots
more SALT work and to sharing both the results and the process
with many other people.
