From boring admin job to international foot
reader!
(A personal account of her dramatic life changes after a
Self-Actualization weekend.
By Jane Sheehan,Reflexologist and Foot 'Reader', England.)
I came along to Mick's weekend in January this year. I had
been to a Thursday preview evening where we got an idea of what
to expect. I thought the course was a lot of money but I was
convinced by the preview evening that it was going to be something
special. I can't tell you why I even attended. I'm still not
sure myself. It just felt right.
On the weekend, I watched as Mick helped person after person
realise what they really wanted in life. He had no preconceptions
and no judgments, but somehow he tapped into what their passions
were and helped them to realise them. For me, it was a bit different.
I already knew what I wanted. I'd decided to give up my day
job to pursue a career as a foot reader and reflexologist and
to teach people how to foot read. Helping people and reading
feet are my two passions in life and have been for a long time
now.
How Mick helped me is that he got me to realise that I smile
all the time. Now for some people, that's probably not a big
thing. But I've always had a smile for everything - for being
happy, for being sad, even one for when I'm angry. I spent half
a day keeping my face neutral, and then suddenly from nowhere
comes lots of sadness and tears I'd been burying for years.
It didn't matter why, it just mattered to get rid of it.
Now, to a lot of people, stopping smiling doesn't seem very
life changing. Let me assure you it is...
The Monday after the course, I was awakened by the door bell.
I got up to answer the door. I had no idea where I was, who
was at the door, what was going on. He said "There's 12
people worried about you!" I'm thinking, who is this and
what's he talking about? "Are you all right?" I think
so. "Are you sick" No. "Have you eaten?"
I have to think hard about this because all my answers are coming
from a long way away. Then I remember eating at the seminar.
Yes. "Go back to bed". So I go back to bed.
Some time later I realise that I'm in my own flat and that
it had been my boss who had been sent round to see if I was
OK because I had not turned up at work and I had not called
in! Quite an unusual start to my week.
Since then, my sense of smell has come back (been missing for
the last 16 years) and I only smile when it's
appropriate. People treat me differently. Some people think
that they've done something wrong because I'm not smiling at
them. My circle of friends has changed.
I've resigned from my job and am setting up my full time foot
reading and reflexology business
(www.footreading.com)
and opportunities
are flooding in. I feel more alive than I've felt in years.
I notice more. I am more focused than I've been for years.
So if you ask me to explain what happened on the weekend -
well it's hard to put into words and it was different for everyone
who attended. If you ask me what's different since I attended
- well, the answer is "everything".
And again, It's hard to put into words. Before I went I was
in an admin job with dreams of doing feet. Now I'm about to
be a full time reflexologist and foot reader. I have seminars
booked to teach it in Essex, London, Aylesbury, Peterborough,
Thame and Hawaii! Unlike other seminars, the results from
this seminar are long lasting and life changing. Perhaps it
should carry a warning!
Shortly
after Jane's weekend seminar she was invited to appear on the
popular English morning TV show, "This Morning". There
she was interviewed by Lorraine Kelly and Tris Payne. She read
two photographs of celebrity feet - namely Princess Diana’s
and Cameron Diaz's - and read some people’s feet live in the
studio who were stood behind a screen. These turned out to be
stars of the "Celebrity Fit Club": Aldo Zilli - the
chef, Kim Mayzelle - the soul singer, and Paul Ross - the breakfast
radio show presenter.
Since then Jane has written a book and has been interviewed
on radio and TV more times than she can count! She gives reflexology
treatments in Buckingham, foot reading parties within a radius
of her home and teaches foot reading around the country. Jane
travels internationally to conduct her foot reading talks and
teach. You can visit her web site at: www.footreading.com
